A Weekend of Celebration
Recently every time I log into blogger I see these two words that say “99 posts”. I can’t believe I’ve been doing this that long to be coming up upon my 100th post! I thought there was no better way to celebrate than with a post about Miriam’s first birthday celebration! We had tried to plan it so that both grandparents could be here at the same time, but schedules would not permit. Therefore we had three different times of celebration with our precious little girl!
Celebrating with Grandma and Grandpa
My parents came down on a Friday evening and spent the night. We had a yummy steak dinner and Isaac ate his first corn-on-the cob ;-) He did great with it! Saturday also happened to be my dad’s birthday, so we had a double celebration!
Miriam’s not quite sure what to do with it . . .
But she got the hang of it . . .
Mmmmm…..yum! This is good stuff!
O I think I ate too much! (Or as one of my aunt’s posted on Facebook . . . a sugar coma ;-)
Miriam' working on opening her gift.
Playing with the paper is just as fun!
OOOO what is this!
Is there anything else in there? The bag is fun to play with too ;-)
After Saturday morning birthday brunch with my parents. They were headed back home. We had a great time with them.
Mamie and Papaw Come to Visit
Aaron’s parents were able to make it in on Saturday and stayed through Tuesday. Isaac loves being read to and Papaw was happy to oblige.
Here Isaac is checking out his new trucks from one of his Great Grandma’s.
Miriam is opening her gift from Great Grandma.
I’m not who enjoyed the Elmo shape sorter more, Isaac or Miriam! It is definitely a toss-up! Isaac is a pro at shape sort now!
Here is Miriam’s first birthday cake! For Isaac’s 2nd birthday I hopefully started a tradition of making their birthday cakes. There’s just something extra special (at least for me, even if no one else cares!) about being able to make their cakes. Just don’t look too closely!
At first she looks like she’s not too sure. I don’t think she wanted to get her fingers dirty at first!
That didn’t last very long though! She ate the poor ducks head and then tried to eat off everyone else’s plate!
Here she is hamming it up! This picture cracks me up. When she is messing around and playing with you, she scrunches up her face.
Just a little bit more cake . . . .
The aftermath . . .
Here she is all nice and clean again enjoying her new Leap Frog musical table she got for her birthday
She also got these pair of sunglasses from Mamie and Papaw
Isaac then had to put his on also ;-)

Last hugs before Mamie and Papaw head back home.
Birthday Dinner
For Miriam’s actual birthday, Aaron and I took the kids to a nice little sit-down restaurant that just opened in town. (We are so excited to have a nice restaurant to go to now for special occasions!) It was our first time there and we really enjoyed it. It was Isaac’s first BBQ ribs and I think it’s safe to say he liked them!
Waiting for supper.
The restaurant we went to gave her a little cupcake for her birthday. By this time, she was getting the hang of this birthday cake thing. She dug right in!
Our little birthday girl! Can’t believe she’s one year old now!
This is how she finished off here evening . . .reading the newspaper with daddy ;-)
