Recent Church Activities

Normally my posts are just of our family and pics of the kids, but I wanted to share what all has been happening at the church, which is a huge part of our life. There have been many exciting new ministry events that have taken place this year. We had our first annual Health Fair a few weeks ago. We had a bone marrow registry, posture checks, (mine wasn't very good lol which I guess is part of the purpose of a health fair! so you can find out about these things!) blood pressure screenings, etc. It was a great turnout for a first year. That same evening we had our annual church stew. There is always a time of preparation the evening before to cut the onions and get the potatoes ready etc. Then the men get up REALLY ealry in the morning to start cooking the brunswick stew. We had a time for the community to come and eat some stew for supper in the early evening.


Recently we have begun to have a missions focus evening on the first Wednesday of the month. This month we had a time to come together and pack shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Last year our goal was 35 boxes, this year we have already packed over 50 boxes!!! This is exciting and it was a wonderful evening to pack the boxes as a community.



This past week we had revival meetings at our church. Pastor Alan Woodie preached some powerful messages based on the book of Revelations. Isaac was sick this past week, so I only made it out Monday night. We are praying that these messages have a long-lasting affect and bring about transformation in our lives and in the life of the church.



Our prayer for our church has been the prayer Paul prays in Ephesians 3:14-19.



"For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge - that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasureably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen"

Enjoying A Beautiful Fall Day

A few weeks ago we had a beautiful sunshiney day after a few days of rain. I decided to enjoy the day to the fullest. The kids and I stopped by McD's and got some hot fudge sundaes. On our way to the park we dropped one off to Aaron. The weather was absolutely perfect. Isaac loved climbing in the jungle gym, only slightly hesitant at first to go down the slide, and had his first experience in a swing. Miriam just hung out in the stroller :)

Along Came September


The months have been flying by. Miriam turned 2 months in September. She is continually more alert and sleeping less during the day. In September we really started to settle into a routine, with the Grandma's back home and us being home from our family vacation. Isaac seemed to easily adjust again to it being just us at home during the day, with the addition of his sister. One of the things I was most concerned about with him was both kids would be sleeping in the same bedroom. I wasn't sure how this would work out, but Isaac and Miriam have done wonderful. Isaac sleeps through Miriam's crying and Miriam sleeps through Isaac's talking. They are quite a pair!She's so cute you just want to eat her up!

He is too funny. He loves the telephone. He is such a ham!


Thankfully he loves books and being read to! We get good use out of our library card!

A Few More August Pics

While the house is quiet and everyone is asleep I figure I will go ahead and post some more pics from this last August. Eventually I will get up to date, but some of these were just so cute I wanted to share.


Isaac's first time eating a banana whole, without mommy cutting it into pieces. He didn't do too bad!

On the way Home

On our way home from vacation, we traveled through West Virginia. We stopped in on my cousin Nathan and his family and then spent the night with my parents. It was a great ending to a wonderful vacation. :)Isaac hanging out with his cousin Emma.

Rainy Days



After a very dry summer, I have enjoyed the rainy days we have had so far this fall. There is something very peaceful about a drizzling rain as it replenishes the ground and brings life back into our plants and grass. It is the best weather to curl up with a good book and a hot cup of tea (or coffee, whatever your preference :) On one of our recent rainy days, Isaac decided he had had enough of staying inside and shot out the front door as soon as it was opened. We decided to go ahead and let him play. It was his first time playing in the rain and he easily found a small water puddle on our front stoop. He absolutely loved it. It was precious to see him with his face towards the sky and his eyelids blinking as he experienced the water hitting his face. It is the simple things in life that sometimes brings the most joy.

Two Months



It is hard to believe that two months have passed since Miriam made her arrival into this world. She is an absolute dollbaby and has a really sweet disposition. She is pretty consistently sleeping through the night now. Although her usual waking time is around 5-6 am. She has started smiling and cooing in the last week or so. This makes a mommy's heart feel like it is about to burst :) Isaac loves his little sister and gives her kisses and tickles her. I think she's quite fond of him too as she has started "talking" back to him and smiling. I pray they will be close in the years to come. The other day Isaac picked up the phone and was talking into it. He then put it up to Miriam's ear so she could talk. It was the cutest thing. It is fun to see him interacting with her more and more. Well, that's all for now as I have been online for a while trying to get pictures uploaded without much success :( It is slightly frustrating but that's ok. At least I finally posted!

Visiting in PA

Visiting Mamie and Papaw

Going back in time a little. Here are a few pics around the end of August when we were in PA visiting family. Miriam was just about a month old at this point. Her and Isaac both did great traveling.
